NASCAR 08 Hands-on Preview (Xbox 360)

I'm just going to come right out and say it, NASCAR is not an exciting sport to watch on TV. Unless you've got some unbreakable ties to one of the drivers, the common sports fan has an understandably difficult time accepting the fact that NASCAR has developed into one of the most popular sporting events in the nation. Yes, the cars are moving fast and yes, there are plenty of wrecks, but at the end of the day they're all still turning left over and over again. Video game NASCAR racing has always been a bit more fun, with some titles taking more of an arcade approach, while others have tried delivering a true, simulation experience. EA Sports' NASCAR series has always attempted the latter, trying to bring all of the intricate detail of NASCAR to the mainstream gamer. Sometimes their games have garnered great acclaim and success, while other efforts haven't exactly panned out.

Wii simulated golf has never seemed so realistic

Well, spring arrived (briefly), but before you know it, it'll be time to hit the links and unleash our hidden Chi Chi Rodriguez. Unless you're like me, and have extreme allergies to anything green.

In that case, there's always EA Sports' "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007." "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007,"EA Sports for Nintendo Wii; $49.99; rated E (all ages). It's been out for a while for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but now it finally came out for the Nintendo Wii. It was worth the wait.

OK, the graphics are about Game Cube quality, and the basic game is pretty much unchanged from the previous years, but here's the difference: the Wiimote. Actually swinging a club-like controller adds a lot to the golf sim experience. (Just stand well away from fishtanks, excitable pets and anything breakable.)

The controller takes a bit of time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's a big improvement over the golf controls in the "Wii Sports" launch game. - Free Online Games
